I've been watching more tennis here than usual. I normally don't watch much tennis, and when I do it's usually men's tennis. But during this tournament I've developed a habit of watching tennis just before I go to bed. Obviously tennis is my life and I'm very dedicated to it, but when I have some free time I prefer to get away from it, which is why I don't watch much. But if it's a big match I'll tune in. For example, I watched Sharapova-Davenport last week.

I haven't seen much of the top women's players, so I can't give an assessment of how well they are playing at the moment, but I've played all of them before and can explain what makes each of them so good:

Justine Henin
Justine doesn't really have any weaknesses. She covers the court so well and she is extremely consistent. This means you're constantly under pressure, and you know you have to play your best tennis just to stay with her. I've played her four times. We had quite a close match in Warsaw three years ago, then in the French Open final last year she beat me easily. In Madrid five months later it was closer, then in Sydney two weeks ago I lost 6-4 in the third. I feel like I'm getting closer to beating her. In order to do so I have to take the initiative and try and finish points at the net or in mid-court.

Venus Williams
I've never played anyone who covers the court as well as Venus. Her retrieval skills are amazing - shots that against lesser players would go for winners come back with interest. I lost to her at Wimbledon and the US Open last year. She was serving extremely well, which made her very difficult to break. Again, you have to play very consistently to beat her; stay in the rallies as long as possible. The closest I came to beating her was the first time we played, when I was 16. I missed eight set points that day!

Maria Sharapova
Maria and I have played each other four times and it's 2-2. Her serve is a very important part of her game, and when it's working the rest of her game is very strong. At the French Open last year I was able to beat her by making her run. She beat me in Madrid last year by getting the first strike in the rallies and putting pressure on my serve. She played a great match that day.

Serena Williams
I've only played Serena once before, at the US Open two years ago. I didn't play well that day and lost in straight sets. Like Venus, Sharapova and also Nicole Vaidisova, she puts you under huge pressure from the very first shot, because she has so much power.

Daniela Hantuchova
Daniela and I have practised together many times but it was a relatively long time before we played each other in a match, in Holland last year, and she beat me pretty easily. But I got my revenge in the Luxembourg final, then beat her again in Madrid. Like Sharapova, she hits the ball quite flat. You have to be patient before going for winners.

I play Caroline Wozniacki in the fourth round today. We've never played a match before, but I practised with her in Hong Kong three weeks ago. She hits the ball very hard and doesn't give you much time. She's young and has nothing to lose, so it's going to be very tough.

Love,

Ana

Fan questions answered...

Why did you choose to study finance? I'm teaching finance at a university and I think you have good taste - Masako

Ana: Thanks. I was tempted to study psychology, but I decided on Finance because it will provide me with more practical information.

Are there any foods or drinks that you aren't particularly fussed on? - Ben, Australia

Ana: Like everyone, I have some foods and drinks I don't like, for example pineapple. I don't drink alcohol, although very, very occasionally I will have a small glass of wine.

Do you like reading? And if you do, what kinds of books or magazines do you like reading? - Maryam, Egypt

Ana: Reading is one of my favourite pastimes. I like to read historical thrillers most of all. My favourite book is The Da Vinci Code. My favourite magazine is probably Glamour.
