INDIAN WELLS, CA, USA - It has been a strong start to the year for Jelena Jankovic, reaching the quarterfinals or better at all five events she has entered including her third career Grand Slam semifinal at the Australian Open. This fortnight she is the No.3 seed at Indian Wells and at the same time becomes the first three-time blogger for the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour.

Hello again everyone, and welcome to my third blog! This one's going to be especially meaningful for me because it was right here in Indian Wells where I played my first pro tournament as a wildcard after I turned 16. And it's a great tournament - beautiful surroundings, friendly people and great climate. It also has a really relaxed, easy-going atmosphere, which is unique for such a big tournament.

My trip here was anything but easy, however. I played in Bangalore last week and my first flight went to Dubai, then Frankfurt, then here to the States, and I eventually made my way here to Palm Springs. It felt like I went to Australia and back! I changed flights so many times I didn't know where I was half the time. And I was on most of the trip alone, because my brother - who was with me in Bangalore - went back to Serbia. I'm used to him or someone from my team carrying all the heavy stuff through the airports but this time it was me, and it felt like my shoulders and back were going to fall off, especially since in a lot of the airports it seems like the gates are miles and miles away. The funniest stop was Los Angeles - I landed there around 10 or 11 at night and I was one of the only people in the airport, and there was this strange music playing, and I just looked like a wounded soldier! My eyes were blood red. I actually looked at myself in the mirror and got scared. But I was almost at the end of my journey so I was just looking forward to getting to Palm Springs and going to sleep...

Sadly, my luggage didn't come here with me. It got lost in Dubai, and I still don't know when it's going to get here. My mom was meeting me here, so before she left Miami (where I have a house) I asked her if she could bring me some of my clothes and other necessities, and she packed them - but her luggage also got lost! What are the chances of both of us having our luggage lost by the airlines? I think I'd have a better chance at winning the lottery. Luckily, my mom's bags have since arrived, and so I at least have some of my clothes to wear. It can be tough to lose luggage, especially for certain items - like my tennis shoes - that are custom-made. It takes time for the exact fits to be replaced. But now I have some things so it's okay, and hopefully my luggage will leave Dubai soon!

I woke up really early today, around 430am - I'm still recovering from the jet lag and I did go to bed pretty early last night, so that's why I got up so early. And I woke up starving. I was the first one at breakfast, just reading the newspaper and having a nice meal, and then had an early practice session at 8am. It was a good hit, too. Then I had All-Access Hour, where the players talk to journalists and the media, and a lot of TV interviews too - more than usual. And then I went to do a Sony Ericsson video card interview, where they give you picture-word associations, so you look at a picture and then just comment on it, and they showed me things like a picture of Belgrade, family, fans and also a few random things like a hamburger - it was really fun. Anyway, they make it into a 60-second clip and you'll be able to download it to your phone and other things, so it's pretty cool. Then I did some filming for a US Open Series commercial, which you'll see on TV in the summer - the whole crew was really fun and I had a pretty good laugh while I was on the set. But all of this stuff was pretty exhausting. I remember being asked a few questions in the interviews and not being able to answer them clearly - they asked me what my nickname was and I had to think twice about it, even - but after I was all done and off-duty I had a workout then just had dinner with my mom and my team and came back here to the hotel. As soon as I finish this I'll probably fall asleep. I have another early morning coming up and have lots more work tomorrow, as my physical trainer has arrived now.

And now it's time for bed... I'll talk to you all tomorrow night!

Jelena ♥
