I love the winning, I can take the losing, but most of all I love to play.

"Невозможно - это всего лишь громкое слово, за которое прячутся маленькие люди. Им проще жить в привычном мире, чем найти в себе силы его изменить. Невозможно - это не факт. Это только мнение. Невозможно - это не приговор. Это вызов! Невозможно - это шанс проверить себя. Невозможно - это не навсегда. НЕВОЗМОЖНОЕ ВОЗМОЖНО!!!

Diary no. 11 (Paris)

29.05.2008. (0:10)

You must have forgotten about Novak’s diary already, since he wrote his last one in January! I managed to persuade Novak to write it. He promised he would, and he finally did! Thanks to the rain in Paris for that! Enjoy the following lines that Nole wrote especially for you from the capital of France!

Paris is the place where I’m at the moment…The city of love, romance, adventures, historical monuments, sites and values, but not football (not this year)

As tennis fans already know, the tournament lasts for two weeks, and it can really be exhausting (especially Men’s, it’s best of five). One needs to stay focused for hours, sliding with clay court specialists (Spaniards, SouthAmericans…). Because of that fact, we need to train hard and prepare very well for the efforts, so we have to come at least 4-5 days earlier to the tournament.

I had spent few days in my hometown before I left for Paris, and two main reasons were: visiting family and friends, and Eurovision song contest. Last year I made a huge party for my 21st birthday, so I didn’t plan nor expected anything similar this year. Anyway, my family didn’t think that way… They made a ‘surprise party’ for my birthday and believe me, they REALLY pleasantly surprised me. I had many things to do that day, and training, as it is usually when I’m in Belgrade. All the people that are close to me knew what my family was preparing, but noone ‘betrayed’ them… And I haven’t doubted anything. That’s how good they were… or I was really lost!

Anyway, I was finishing my therapies and massages at Wellness Land (good promotion, ha?), we agreed that we (the family) would go to a dinner, because we haven’t had opportunity for that for quite some time. Everything went according to the plan, my uncle was waiting for me… When we were in front of the restaurant I saw that it was dark inside, so I suspected a bit, but I didn’t expect anything like that, what a surprise!

First confetti ‘exploded’, then folklore dancers delighted me. There was a lot of music, singing, dancing, food, kisses, hugs, partying… but what’s the most important for me, is that all the people that I care for and that mean a lot to me were there.

I had a lot of emotions in me… and that evening gave me strength to continue, and all I can remember are good and nice things.

And then came Eurovision… Opening ceremony and first semifinal evening. This was an event that beautified Serbia and sent a nice, positive picture of our country into the world.
I had an honour to be a special guest of that first evening, to say few words, and throw a giant tennis ball… I’m only sorry I couldn’t be present at the finals evening, that was impressive!

Congratulations to the organisers!
Then came Paris and 22nd of May, my birthday. Though I was in the middle of the preparations I made schedule with my coaches, so I could have at least half of the day off, cause I wanted to go to a beautiful Disneyland with my brother and my girlfriend.

That was a great experience! We spent around seven hours in the park, and if we could, and if it wasn’t getting dark, we would have stayed another seven hours!

Everything is like a fairy tale! The moment you step there, you feel like a kid! For everyone who has never been there, I recommend you to visit everyone’s childhood dream – DISNEYLAND!

We bought many presents and costumes, and now all the kids in our close family will look like their favourite cartoon and fairy tale characters!

Aaah, yes, about tennis… It’s not going bad… I won my first round match and I hope for the best! Hehehehe…

Regards from rainy Paris!

A plus tarde!
